Our beloved Kayla passed over the Rainbow Bridge on August 27, 2016. She was a very loving, sweet companion and family member for all of her 15 years. We adopted 1 year old Kayla from Patchwork Sheltie Rescue and from day one she became a close member of our family, joining Bentley, our other rescue as part of our happy canine home.

It was not long before she was bossing Bentley around. He was such a gentleman and let her get away with it, EXCEPT for his food. She loved to go to the dog park to meet the people there and get pets and loving from them. She didn't care for the other dogs, though, and let them know it. She would greet the people and enjoy their attention, even though they thought she was a "little" Lassie collie, and not a sheltie.

Kayla has joined our other beloved rescues, Indy (our first sheltie) and Meisha (our Border Collie mix), over the Rainbow Bridge. Even though she never met them during her time with us, we're sure they will recognize her as being a part of the Ladley family and welcome her to come and play with them.

Go with love our sweet Kayla, until we meet again over the Rainbow Bridge.

* We do not permit adoptions of shelties as gifts. If you would like to give one as a gift you can contact us for advice on how to handle the situation.
Please note that we do NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10. Herding dogs, especially shelties, tend to chase whatever/whoever is running & they often will nip at the back of legs in their attempt to gather everyone into a neat, manageable area.
If you cannot adopt but would like to make a donation or to sponsor one of our forever fosters, seniors or special needs dogs, please email us.
