Bentley passed away on 10/16/13

11/1/12 Bentley was adopted from SSPSNJ in 1999 when he was a 1 year old. He became part of a two-sheltie household and immediately took over. He loved to run and play with the other older sheltie and especially loved to bark at the dog next door. He quickly become much loved and gave much love in return.

Unfortunately, the other sheltie passed away, so Bentley become an only sheltie for a time. He seemed lonely so a female sheltie was adopted from another rescue to keep him company. Little did he know that the famale would become "queen" of the house and boss him around. He was such a gentleman that he let her boss him, EXCEPT FOR FOOD. Then all bets were off.

At one point in Bentley's life he became very ill and very close to death. With the help of some very experienced vets, some medication and a mom, dad and dog who didn't give up, he fully recovered and went on to live a long, happy life.

Bentley passed away, with Mom and Dad at his side just after a third sheltie was adopted from SSPSNJ. Bentley brought Leo into his home, welcomed him and then said his goodbyes. It was his time. He is greatly missed and has left his big dog shaped love heart in his family's hearts and minds.

* We do not permit adoptions of shelties as gifts. If you would like to give one as a gift you can contact us for advice on how to handle the situation.
Please note that we do NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10. Herding dogs, especially shelties, tend to chase whatever/whoever is running & they often will nip at the back of legs in their attempt to gather everyone into a neat, manageable area.
If you cannot adopt but would like to sponsor one of our seniors or special needs dogs, please email Aneita.
