Matilda is adjusting to her new foster home. She is one of our forever fosters.
The Shetland Sheepdog Placement Services of NJ has a very special girl named Matilda. Matilda is a beautiful 6 year old special needs sheltie. She is a very sweet bi blue with two crystal blue eyes (she is not blind). She loves to be around people and will follow you from room to room. Her favorite thing is to curl up on the sofa with you while you watch tv or read a book.
She is deaf and has developed seizures as the results of untreated tick disease. She also has low thyroid. Both issue are maintained by medication given two times a day. She responds to hand signals and walks nicely on leash.
She knows sign language and wants to be around people. Unfortunately due to being deaf she can be a fearful and nip when startled. Her seizures are very mild. She can not have any food or treats with rosemary ingredients as this seems to be one of her triggers for the seizures. Matilda is house and crate trained. She walks well on a leash. She rides nicely in a car.
If you would like to donate funds to help Matilda or one of our other forever fosters, you can donate via paypal on our donation page.
* We do not permit adoptions of shelties as gifts. If you would like to give one as a gift you can contact us for advice on how to handle the situation.
Please note that we do NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10. Herding dogs, especially shelties, tend to chase whatever/whoever is running & they often will nip at the back of legs in their attempt to gather everyone into a neat, manageable area.
If you cannot adopt but would like to make a donation or to sponsor one of our forever fosters, seniors or special needs dogs, please email Aneita.
