Update 1/5/18 Omey is still looking for a forever home. She has been learning how to not pull while walking on leash. She loves to chase anything that moves and will clear out your yard of wildlife. She does get along with some other dogs. She is a total Diva.
Omey was surrendered to the rescue by her owners. She is 7 years old and one of the smartest shelties her foster home has seen. She has amazing prey drive. She will do best in a home as an only dog. She will chase cats and other animals including small dogs. She could scale a lower fence at the blink of an eye chancing a animal that got into your yard. This is why we are requiring the adoptive home to have a 6 foot fence. She is very active and needs to be exercised daily. Her foster mom is working on leash training. She will pull if she sees something move and she wants to chase it. Omey is a total love bug. She would be a great companion for someone who is home most of the time.
If you are interested in adopting Omey please go the the Shetland Sheepdog Placement Services of NJ website and fill out an Adoption Application.
* We do not permit adoptions of shelties as gifts. If you would like to give one as a gift you can contact us for advice on how to handle the situation.
Please note that we do NOT adopt to homes with children under the age of 10. Herding dogs, especially shelties, tend to chase whatever/whoever is running & they often will nip at the back of legs in their attempt to gather everyone into a neat, manageable area.
If you cannot adopt but would like to make a donation or to sponsor one of our forever fosters, seniors or special needs dogs, please email Aneita.
